Four ways into Delta that skip the app icon, and one that reports back while a workout runs. None of them send anything anywhere: a widget, a complication and a Live Activity are all just your own device drawing your own data.
Add Delta's Next up widget the usual way: long-press the Home Screen, tap the +, search for Delta. It shows what the app shows: the next program day and the next day of your training plan, with the same week and program labels.
Each line starts its own workout. Press NEXT STRENGTH and the program day opens, compiled, with its percentages already worked out. Press NEXT CARDIO and the prescribed run starts with its warm-up staged. Press the header and Delta simply opens, because a press that hit neither line has not chosen one, and guessing wrong half the time is worse than asking.
It follows your palette. Switch the theme in Settings and the tile repaints.
Long-press the face, tap Edit, pick a complication slot and choose Delta. The rectangular slot has room for the workout name; the round and corner slots show the Δ mark, because a workout name is unreadable at that size and the job there is simply "Delta, one tap".
It draws in your watch face's colour, not Delta's green. That is deliberate. A face is a composition you built, and a complication that insists on its own brand colour clashes with everything around it.
Ask Siri. The phrases fall into two families, and the difference is exact: a bare verb starts something blank, and only the word next reaches into a program or a plan.
| say | you get | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Start a workout in Delta | an empty strength session |
| 2 | Start a rower in Delta | a blank rower session |
| 3 | Start pilates in Delta | a blank functional session |
| 4 | Start my next workout in Delta | the next program day |
| 5 | Start my next cardio in Delta | the next day of your plan |
Any activity in the library works in row 2: run, walk, cycle, treadmill, indoor bike, rower, elliptical, HIIT. Yoga, pilates and timed functional work the same way in row 3.
Delta also publishes a Start a workout control, so you can add it to Control Center or bind it to the Action Button if your phone has one.
Lock the phone mid-workout and the Lock Screen keeps the session: the program day, the running clock, and once you lock in a set, the rest timer counting up with your target printed beside it. On phones with a Dynamic Island it lives up there too.
The app's own rest timer turns green past your target. The Lock Screen card does not, and that is an honest limit rather than an oversight: a Live Activity cannot restyle itself at the moment you cross, and a colour that arrives late is worse than a number you can read. So it prints the target instead, 1:12 / 2:00, and you do the comparison a glance faster than any animation would have told you.
